High Point, N.C. - Leather specialist Lazzaro Leather is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new, larger showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16.

The event will be held in Lazzaro Leather's new 16,122-square foot showroom in the IHFC's Commerce wing, Space 1003. Attendees will include top company executives, market officials, the media and current and prospective retailers.

The company had been showing in a 9,123-square-foot showroom in the Hamilton wing, also on the 10th floor.

"We've nearly doubled our space for October market to create more room for our fast-growing product categories as well as as the nearly $2 million worth of in-line product that we stock in our North Carolina warehouse," said Lauri Cryan, president of Lazzaro. "In our previous showroom, we didn't have room to show all of our best-sellers. Now, customers will have a chance to see a much broader range of our line."

The new showroom is centrally located in a high-visibility spot with lots of traffic, making it easily accessible for retailers, Cryan added. The space has been completely redesigned for the October market with a creative layout organized by contemporary, casual and traditional lifestyles. Many of the vignettes feature a travel theme, including the reception area, which was inspired by the feeling of a classic hotel lobby. The presentation also includes a "leather workshop" highlighting the company's expertise in leather, and a special AYL handbag display.

"Our new showroom design is laid out in an artful way that highlights the fashion-forward nature of our line and the quality of our materials and craftsmanship," said Cryan. "Customers will have much more room to roam, and we are using texture, color and other creative touches to engage and inspire buyers."

At the October market, Lazzaro Leather is introducing a variety of new leather seating and occasional products and upholstered headboards as well as a new dining and barstool program. The company also is showcasing its AYL leather handbag line, a new accessory program that the company previewed at the spring High Point Market.

In addition to exhibiting new goods, Lazzaro is devoting a good portion of the new showroom space to its current range of best-selling upholstery and occasional furniture. Best known for its traditional goods, the company has recently expanded its offerings of transitional and contemporary designs, including modern and industrial-inspired pieces incorporating stainless steel and riveted aluminum. Key product categories include sofas, sectionals, accent and office chairs, steamer trunks, desks and bar units.

About Lazzaro Leather

Lazzaro Leather is the exclusive distributor for the United States, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica of Guangdong Lazzaro Sunton Leather Goods, a 26-year-old leather tannery and quality furniture manufacturer located in Shunde, China. The frames of Lazzaro's upholstered furniture and other furnishings are constructed of kiln-dried birch hardwood indigenous to the Shunde area that is virtually knot free and bolted for stability. Lazzaro uses only 100 percent U.S. cowhide in its tannery - covers that are known for being larger and having fewer defects. Lazzaro offers solid-color leathers with a slight waxy hand for its more contemporary designs as well as vintage antiqued leather finishes for more traditional models. Since the company tans its own hides, it is able to monitor the quality in all facets of the tanning process to ensure consistency as well as quality finishes.
